Song 46: Henri Matisse

It’s nice to have a song turn out like you wanted it to for a change. Henri Matisse was recorded with no resistance from my set up, and I’m pleased with the final product. For our purposes Henri is pronounced “Henry.”

Lyrics and tabs included, free for all…

Verse & Solo Rhythm Guitar: E->Esus
Chorus: A-Asus (Sometimes Asus/d)

Lead guitar parts in E major Penatonic, around frets 9-14.

I was Henri Matisse
I sold all my paintings
to please satan

I wish I was a stork
I’d wade in the grass
and skewer the shrimp

Chours:
I know you’re alone
I know you’re not dead
I know you’re asleep

I’ve got the high card
I’ve got higher ground
I hope you don’t mind

I was Henri Matisse
I met handsome women
and painted them nude

I wish I was a lamb
I’d grow my own warmth
and eat all the moss

Chorus:
I know you’re alone
I know you’re not dead
I know you’re asleep

I’ve called shotgun
I’ve got first dibs
I hope you don’t mind

I was Henri Matisse
I swam in the sea
I blurred all the lines

I wish I was a dog
I’d chase the fox
and bark at the door

Chorus:
I think you’re asleep
I think you’re asleep
I think you’re asleep

Slow soloing in E major pentatonic c. 9-12th frets

I’ve still got pride
I’ve still got a wound
I hope you’re asleep

I was Henri Matisse
I sold all my paintings
just to please satan
